Ghalegaun is not just a beautiful village near Pokhara but it also serves as gateway to the famous and popular Annapurna trekking route. The village sits on the lap of the Lamjung mountains and has an altitude of 2016 meters.

From Ghalegaun you can see magnificent views of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges, green hills and the surrounding valleys. The villagers living here are mostly from the Gurung ethnic group and the towns people are known to give traditional Tamu (Gurung) hospitality and show their pride in their culture that is predominant in this region. An extra benefit for staying in Ghalegaun, is the local community members perform shows and traditional dances to entertain their visitors.

In Ghalegaun and in the close by Khudi, food and sleeping accommodations are available for those who trek here and other travelers. There are different options offered in the area such as several home-stay programs and guest houses.

Ghalegaun is approximately 205 kilometers northwest of Kathmandu and 125 kilometers northeast of Pokhara. The nearest road head is at Khudi that can be reached by daily bus services from Kathmandu and Pokhara after which you can reach Ghalegaun by a four-hour walk from Khudi.
