Dhankuta
Nepal Travel Destination
Dhankuta is is a large town that has spectacular views, a mild climate and plenty of interesting places to walk to and explore the surrounding areas. This hilly town is currently being developed as a regional center for eastern Nepal. It is only 75 kilometers from the Terai but it seems like Dhankuta and the Terai are a million miles apart.
The historical importance of the town is attributed to the fact that it was a major recruiting center for Gurkha soldiers for the British Army. A significant amount of British aid money has been spent in the vicinity.
Dankuta is easily accessed by highway from Dharan. There are regular bus services available making travel to Dankuta an easy fair.
When traveling to Dhankuta you do not need to worry about places to stay. Dhankuta has a number of hotels and lodges for all preferences, there are average options to luxurious accommodations.
